CPT Jacob Garza was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He commissioned in 2016 through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of North Texas as a Logistics Officer; earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. After completing Transportation BOLC in 2017, he was assigned to E Co 536th BSB supporting the 172nd BEB out of Houston. CPT Garza served as the Maintenance Platoon Leader from 2017-2018 and then served as the Company XO from 2018-2020. After his XO assignment, he served as a SPO Ammunition Officer and then Plans Officer in the 536th BSB SPO Shop, from 2020-2023. CPT Garza completed Logistics Captain’s Career Course at Ft. Lee, VA in 2023 and was assigned to command D Co FSC 536th BSB supporting the 1-112th Cavalary SDQN in Bryan, TX where he held Command through 2025.

Through his traditional M-Day assignments, he was activated numerous times in support of Federal and State Missions to include Operation Guardian Support 2018-2020, Operation COVAX 2021-2022, Operation Lone Star 2023-2025. Most recently he was accepted to an AGR position within the TXARNG Recruiting and Retention BN to become an Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Texas in San Antonio where he currently serves as the MS2 Instructor and TXARNG Liaison.

His awards include the Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

CPT Garza is married to his wife, Maegan Ryan Garza and they welcomed their first child, Frankie Louise Garza, in July of 2025
