LTC Shifrin, Department Chair and Professor of Military Science

 

LTC Kristen Shifrin earned her commission from Auburn University as a Military Intelligence Officer in 2002.  Upon completion of the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course in Ft. Huachuca, AZ, her first assignment was as the Assistant Brigade S2 for the 2nd Engineer Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Howze, Korea.

From there, she moved to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where she served as the Executive Officer for B/319th Military Intelligence Battalion (Operations)(Airborne).  In 2004, she deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) where she served as a Joint Targeting Team Leader for the Joint Interagency Task Force – High Value Individuals.  She redeployed in 2005 as the Brigade S2 for the 16th Military Police Brigade (Airborne).  She deployed once again to Baghdad in 2006 as the Deputy Intelligence Officer for Task Force 134, Detainee Operations.

After completing the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course in 2008, LTC Shifrin was assigned to Joint Base Lewis McChord as Commander of A/109th Military Intelligence Battalion.  She generated, trained and deployed the company to Mosul, Iraq in support of OIF.  During that deployment, she transitioned to command HHC, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade in Tallil, Iraq.  After completing Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS and earning a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Webster University, she was assigned to Operations Group Charlie, Mission Command Training Program at Fort Leavenworth, KS.  There she served as an Intelligence Observer/Controller Trainer and as the Operations Group Adjutant.  From May 2015 to May 2017, LTC Shifrin served in 1st Armored Division as the Division Collection Manager and as the Senior Intelligence Officer (S2) for 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team.

LTC Shifrin’s military training and education include the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College Intermediate Level Education, Basic Airborne Course, and the Jumpmaster Course.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration – Marketing from Auburn University (2002) and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Webster University (2014).  She is currently pursuing a Masters in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville.

Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), and the Army Achievement Medal.

LTC Shifrin is married to LTC Matthew Shifrin who serves as a FA59 Strategic Planner in Joint Task Force – North, Fort Bliss, TX.  They have two beautiful children, Emma Kate (5yr) and Jackson (3).  Their two Basset Hounds, Bucca (11) and Mooney (12) reside with them in their San Antonio, Texas residence.
