MSG Mario Giron, Senior Military Instructor

Master Sergeant Mario Giron joined the UTSA ARMY ROTC program as an Senior Military Instructor (SMI) in the Fall of 2016. In this role, He serves as the Military Instructor for the Introduction to Leadership and Decision Making course and lab and as the programs Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Professor if Military Science (PMS).

Experience: He comes to the ROTC program with 21+ years of Active Duty Army experience as an Senior Infantry NCO and service as the principal adviser to the Commander. His most recent duty before ROTC was with Apache Company, 1st Battalion 9th Cavalry Regiment (Headhunters) and HHC 2ABCT (Blackjack), Fort Hood, TX as a Company First Sergeant. His military education includes the Basic Leadership Course, the Advance Leadership Course, and the Senior Leadership Course. Master Sergeant Giron is currently working on completing his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Management.

Interests: Working with the ROTC program and mentoring future Officers has been a long time goal of mine. I am honored be able to serve the Army in this capacity! MSG Giron has been married to his lovely wife Annette Giron of 19 years where she and their two children son Joshua (14) and daughter Azarel (9) currently reside in San Antonio. I enjoy playing sports, fishing, golfing, volunteering with my church and more. I am also very committed to my family and God.”
